In 2007, BBC Northern Ireland Learning brought the Hurley Burley Man to Lisnagelvin Nursery! Using a dynamic mix of animation and locally filmed footage to provide a fun and enriching programme for 3-5 year olds with all the content set in local contexts. Both Chris and his Hurley Burley Van proved an immediate hit with children and parents all over Northern Ireland. In episode 6 of series 2, Mrs. Aiken, Mrs. Bogle and the children of Lisnagelvin Nursery School explore their local environment including a visit to Waterside Fire Station. The experience tied in perfectly with the nursery’s theme of “People Who Help Us”, giving the children a hands-on look at how their community works together to keep everyone safe.
