Rhymeathon 2026
Today was our annual sponsored Rhymeathon!
It was a joyful day full of singing, laughter, and a shared love of nursery rhymes. The children proudly celebrated all the rhymes they’ve been learning in the lead-up to this special event.
Not only did the children learn the rhymes which will help promote language skills but also helped raise money to support school funds and local charities.
Nursery rhymes are more than just fun—they’re powerful learning tools. Through rhythm and repetition, children develop early language skills, listening and memory, phonological awareness, and confidence in speaking. Rhymes also support social interaction, creativity, and a love of storytelling, building strong foundations for reading and communication.
A portion of the money collected will be donated to local charities on behalf of the children. This year we have chosen to support Marie Curie Northern Ireland, Diabetes UK – Northern Ireland, and Epilepsy Action Northern Ireland. We have chosen these charities, to acknowledge the support they offer to the Lisnagelvin Nursery community, and extend our thanks for their invaluable services.
The day concluded with cake and gifts for all the children who took part... well done!
We would also like to say a special word of thanks to the generosity of everyone who sponsored the children, thank you. It is very much appreciated.
